| As
many of you know, I just got back from Jamaica.
It was my 4th trip to the island and while
it is true that I have thoroughly enjoyed
myself each time, this is the first time
that I realized that Jamaica is the one
paradise that I needed to alert some of
my sister girlfriends to.
For
a group of very special sisters that I know
who are working hard everyday to raise their
children (or to influence the lives of other
people's children), and cater to their husbands
(boyfriends). To those sisters who are putting
in their nine hours for the man every day,
who are splitting themselves between school,
work, home and family, who are seeking out
and finding those paths to success, who
are digging their heels in the earth and
planting themselves firm for every earthquake
that enters her life. You all are that group
of sisters, those women I know who deserve
some paradise, and I am sincerely extending
this invitation to each one of you!
Ladies,
if you do nothing else for yourselves in
the next year, you must join me next June
when I board the plane for Negril, Jamaica.
Why do I call Jamaica a paradise? The list
of reasons could take 10 more emails for
me to cover, but let me try to sum it up
real quick for you all.
1)
The beach is awesome! Its white sands stretch
for as far as the eye can see and is spotted
every two feet by resorts offering a variety
of adventures all day and all night! Yeah,
I know some of you have been to a beach
before, but the beach is just the beginning!
2)
The cliffs and the mountains are breathtaking!
One night of seeing the sun set off the
cliffs at Rick's Cafe is enough to make
you feel free! Ever seen the sea and the
sun kiss? You will in Jamaica!
3)
The Caribbean Sea is the calmest, warmest
body of water you will ever immerse yourself
in. Its current is peaceful and inviting.
But then to go to the mountains and walk
in the natural spring water there is even
still more healing to the body.
4)
The brothers....Lord have mercy on my soul...the
brothers love the sisters! All I can say
is that Jamaican men appreciate the body
a woman has spent her whole life coming
into. The more thickness the better when
it comes to these brothers. Now, I'm not
encouraging infidelity ladies, this ain't
about acting like Stella trying to get her
groove back. But how many Empresses can
you handle being called? How many times
have you heard the word Queen escape a man's
mouth in recognition of your radiance? These
brothers just know how to make a woman feel
like all her curves and love handles are
the fruit of the earth, instead of imperfections!
And God knows we all need to be appreciated,
honored, and pampered every now and again!
No need for a cover up on the beach ladies!
Bring your bikinis and be proud of the woman's
body that you have and that you spent your
entire life making!
5)
The food....no preservatives, non-processed,
fresh and better than anything you have
ever swallowed! Jerk chicken, escaveight
fish, curry chicken, calilou, fried plantain
and dumplings, aki and salt fish, and the
juiciest mangos and pineapples, oranges
and other tropical fruit you have ever known.
6)
The Vibe....Jamaicans have two sayings,
"Soon Come" and "No Worries".
Basically, these phrases explain their approach
to time and to life in general. The pace
is always slow and easy! They are not confined
by schedules and time keeping. You won't
need a watch because ain't nobody worrying
about what time of the day it is. When does
the party start? Soon come, in other words
when you get there! The sunrise is the only
indication that a new day has begun, because
there aren't even any clocks in the resort
rooms! LOL! Leave the day planners at home
because you simply need to get in the wind
and go wherever it pushes you!
7)
The parties and the music! Reggae is one
of my favorite kinds of music. The steady
rhythm of the base lines, the pulsating
drums, the fever in the music will make
you move even if you don't think you can!
Baby, to see the natives (men and women
alike) move their bodies to the music is
unbelievable! You will be forced to catch
the rhythm, period and point blank! They
play hip hop and such at some of the clubs,
but the beach scene is more native! Either
way, the party won't start until the sun
goes down and it won't end until the sun
comes up! And just as a word of caution,
pace yourself on the rum punch!
Ladies,
all I'm trying to say to you all is that
every woman needs to experience Jamaica,
even if only once in her lifetime! June
because the weather is beautiful that time
of the year in Jamaica (not too hot, not
too rainy), the kids will be out of school,
and usually the start of the summer is the
start of vacation season for most. Plus
it’s off season and we can get some good
rates for flights and lodging.
The
expense of the trip will be minimal - The
more the people the cheaper it can be! Believe
me ladies, its workable! Think about it,
all those new shoes and clothes, dinners
in restaurants and other frivolous things
you spend your money on every year can be
sacrificed for a little while...and it will
be damn worth it for a trip to Jamaica!
Okay,
okay, I'm going to wrap this up because
there ain't nothing else to say! I truly
believe you will appreciate the beauty Jamaica
has to offer. Get at me ladies!
Until
later,
Peace and guidance my sisters! |
